A day after Gov. Bob McDonnell and Virginia Republicans amended a controversial ultrasound bill by removing a demand for an invasive explore for women seeking an abortion, the Virginia Senate prepares to vote on legislation that might define life as starting at conception.
WJLA reports that a Virginia Senate committee voted to approve the bill , and it’ll next be taken up by the whole Senate. That chamber is evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans, and Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling can break tied votes. Pro-choice activists are hoping that each one the national attention inside the wake of the ultrasound bill will cause the Senate to reject the personhood bill , much because it did another proposal that could have banned abortions after 20 weeks.
According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the Senate committee also approved legislation that might end a required HPV vaccine for young girls.
