MOVIE: Tonight, the 2012 Environmental Film Festival, highlighted in last week’s Popcorn & Candy, begins its two week run of 180 films, including documentaries, animated films, experimental works, and more. This evening catch Arctic Cliffhangers at the Embassy of Canada (free, 6:00 p.m., RSVP here), Memorial Tribute to Kenyan Environmentalist Wangari Maathai at the National Geographic Society (7:00 p.m., $10), Switch at the Carnegie Institute for Science (7:00 p.m., free, no reservations required), and You’ve Been Trumped at E Street Cinema (7:00 p.m., $7.50).
ELEPHANTS: Each year, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey march their elephants, clowns, and other performers through downtown D.C. to the Verizon Center, spreading the news that the circus is in town. While in past years this event has taken place in the afternoon, tonight the Pachyderm Parade will be an evening event starting at 8:00 p.m. in Garfield Park (Virginia Avenue and New Jersey Avenue SE).
